Chinese Welfare Trust Annual Jade Banquet at Tuli Restaurant
The dinner was to increase support and awareness of the Charity and to raise the profile of Trust's work. In addition to its aims to support disadvantaged Chinese living in UK, especially the elderly and to develop an Extra Care Home Scheme for this vulnerable group the Trust is funding a Chinese-speaking part-time floating support worker. This person will initially work with Soho Housing Association to support their Chinese tenants in Westminster and Camden. He will provide support and advice such as signposting, assessing ‘care’ needs and act as informal interpreter/ translator. Also and linked to Chinese National Healthy Living Centre it will be provide counselling, befriending and advice to this vulnerable group.Read more
On 13th March Jimmy Choo kindly hosted an event to raise the profile and funds for the Chinese Welfare Trust. Mei Sim Lai OBE DL and Merlene Toh Emerson both Trustees attended the event with William Thomas MBE, Project Director. Joe Hung the trust's support worker and Sharon Lo, a volunteer for the Chinese National Healthy Living Centre helped with the event.
The event took place in Jimmy Choo's shop on Sloane Street, which was open ion the evening to the Chinese Welfare Trust's guests. Guests made a donation and 10% of sales were donated to the Chinese Welfare Trust. Funds raised were for the support of the Chinese Speaking Floating Support Worker.The event also celebrated International Women's Day on 8th March.
